Mangalore : Most of the people are taking railways for granted, hence awareness among the masses must be created for the betterment of railway facility, said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Speaking at an interactive session at the Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry office in the city on Tuesday, July 13, he assured to stress the central government to create a Mangalore railway division.
Large number of people prefer railway to bus as it would shorten the journey. He also said that, the project like MSEZ is not sure and ready with the list of the factories to be set-up in the acquired land of 1800 acres, hence he do not support such developments.
He also said that, small scale industries can play a greater role in Mangalore, rather than large industries to be established by MSEZ.
Further the research team of 25 person comprising of specialists from different fields like environmentalists, journalists, economists, industrialists and other will be formed to make an detailed study of the power gained through industries in Mangalore and will complete in two years, he said.
The foundation stones for the over bridge at Jeppu Bappal, Padil and Mani Mysore road will be laid as soon as possible, he added.
