Mangalore: During the last few months Mangalore International Airport has seen several smuggling activities, but mixing a half kg of gold in coffee powder and entering the airport from Dubai by plane was not one of them.

Now on Thursday Mohammed Ashraf did the stick to fool the local customs officials who had sophisticated machinery to find out what was going on, and was arrested by the officials on his arrival. The concealed gold was worth Rs.16 lacks and the smuggler who brought it to Mangalore from Abroad is behind the bars now.

A customs official told a news reporter on Thursday that smugglers may come and go, but smuggled goods would be seized along with their carriers, in whatever form they coming to the city airport without fail.
