Mangaluru: In a shocking incident, a city-based social activist has been threatened with rape and murder after the activist raised her voice against the forcible stopping of screening of the movie ‘Dilwale.’
Several Sangh Parivar activists have issued threats to activist Vidya Dinker, Convener of Citizens Forum for Mangalore Development.
Bajrang Dal activist Puneeth Raj Kottari posted a derogatory comment against the activist on Facebook; however, he deleted it after a warning from the police.
Meanwhile, another comment was posted after Puneeth deleted his comment. This led to several abusive comments from people stating allegiance to saffron outfits.
It is said that the Sangh Parivar was angry after Vidya Dinker urged City Police Commissioner S Murguan to take action against Bajrang Dal activists who conducted the raid on multiplexes and theatres for screening ‘Dilwale.’
Sources say that Vidya in her complaint has named Bajrang Dal state president Sharan Pumpwell.
