Kasargod: Police have arrested a software engineer from Kannur who was  wanted in connection with the theft of laptops, gold and other valuables from train passengers travelling in AC coaches.

A total 17 laptops, 27 sovereigns of gold, 10 watches, 15 mobile phones, camera and other valuables. The police who gathered vital information arrested the man at Palakkad when he was travelling by the Coimbatore-Trissur  passenger train.

IT is learnt, he has several cases against him in various police stations including 22 cases in Palakkad station alone.

As per his modus operandi, he used to rob passengers travelling in trains in Kannur, Chennai, Yeshwanthpur, Tiruvananthapuram and  then get down at the next station. It is learnt, the arrested youth was running a software firm in Bangalore.

Investigations are underway.
