Mangalore: 21 Soligas of Chamarajnagar district were in city, headed by Basavaraja of Yalandur Taluk and performed a special dance form at Muchur Kana Gurikar’s house, as part of cultural exchange programme, arranged by Information Department.
They have many other dances, that they exhibit since 15 years. Their rotti habba’ comes round March-April in ‘podu(village), either Monday or Friday.
They are members of Soliga Pusuma Male Kala Sangh. They had performed at Dasara, Vishwa Kannada Mela, New Delhi, Kolkata and Odisha(state) even national festivals.
The leader described their unique marriage traditions. ZP chief Shailaja Bhat inaugurated the dance programme.
Janardhan Gowda, Rohini, and KNV Prakash(DK-ZP-CEO) were present to appreciate the events.
