Mangaluru : Dakshina Kannada district police police are ready for any probe being accused of disrespecting Holy Quran, during a search at Kalandar’s house, one of the main accused in RSS member Sharath Madivala’s murder.
Dakshina Kannada SP C H Sudheer Reddy on Tuesday said that the entire search operation was recorded in video cam. Anyone who wants to see the video footage of the search at Kalandar’s house is welcome at our office. The entire search is videographed. If anyone finds that police present at the venue have shown disrespect to Quran, we are ready to take action against them,” Reddy said.
A group of police including two women staff On Saturday,had gone to Kalandar’s house in connection with the Sharath Madivala’s murder. Quoting video footage, he said that Kalandar’s father is repeatedly seen asking police not to touch such articles and police personnel avoided touching them. Whatever documents were not part of our investigation were handed back to the family. However, during the search nowhere one can find Quran.
Upon being asked whether it was a plan to divert the investigation, Reddy replied that similar incident had taken place in Mangaluru city when probe of Ahmed Qureshi was going on under Mangaluru City Commissionerate. To save him and divert the entire issue, an organisation which backed him gheraoed the commissionerate resulting in lathicharge. Several persons including policemen were injured. “We cannot rule out the same ploy in the case of Kalandar, who is one of the prime accused in Sharath’s murder. However, police are probing it.”
Highly placed sources said during the search, police collected some substantial evidences related to murder. Kalandar, who is now absconding, is trying to escape to Gulf countries.
So far police have arrested ten persons in the case.
Sharath, 28, a resident of Sajipa in Bantwal taluk, who was attacked by unidentified miscreants on July 4, succumbed to injuries three days later. A stone pelting incident was reported during his funeral and several leaders of right-wing organization and others were arrested.
