Mangaluru : Due to the continued non-interlocked working at the Palakkad Junction yard under the Southern Railway, some trains will be partially cancelled on Thursday.
The work is to connect the new platform line with the main line, modernisation of signalling and the extension of the railway track of three operational lines.
Train No 56323 Coimbatore-Mangaluru fast passenger leaving Coimbatore Junction at 7.30 a.m. would be partially cancelled between Coimbatore and Kozhikode and would start from Kozhikode at its scheduled time of 1 p.m.
Train No 56324 Mangaluru-Coimbatore fast passenger leaving Mangaluru Central at 7.40 a.m. would run only up to Kozhikode.
With the completion of non-interlocked working and yard remodelling at Palakkad Junction station, the operational efficiency at this station would be improved manifold. The electronic interlocking system, which would replace the prevailing Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) system, would provide the station with scope for incorporating future modernisation measures as well. The station would have a direct access platform from its main entry, resulting in an additional new platform at the station, a release said.
Upon completion of the work, the signalling system for train movement at Palakkad Junction and Palakkad Town stations would also undergo modernisation. The token working system of signalling in this section would be replaced with continuous track circuiting based signalling system.
