Mangaluru: The fourth additional district and sessions court has convicted a youth from Belthangady taluk, for killing his father a year ago.
Judge B R Pallavi held Harish Poojari,28, a resident of Mudyottu in Gardadi village of Belthangady, to be guilty for killing his father Shridhara Poojari,56, on January 18, 2021. A case in this connection was registered at the Belthangady police station.
Harish was in love with a girl from another caste and his family was against it. Following this, Harish had eloped with the girl, and later, when he came back, his father did not allow him to enter the house. On the fateful day, Harish hit his father with a wooden log, causing serious injuries on his head and face. His father succumbed to the injuries on the way to hospital.
A Belthangady police inspector filed a chargesheet before the court, which is yet to pronounce the quantum of punishment.
