Mangaluru : South MLA J R Lobo said Mangaluru South constituency Congress workers’ convention will be held at Town Hall in Mangaluru at 3 pm on September 25.

Briefing media persons here on Friday, he said that all 220 polling booth in charge, ward presidents and office-bearers, he said that all 220 polling booth in charge, ward presidents and office-bearers, block presidents and office-bearers, KPCC district in-charge secretaries, MLAs and ministers of Dakshina Kannada will take part in the conventio being organised to strengthen the Congress at the grassroots level.

On the directions of the KPCC and AICC, the District Congress Committee will start ‘Congress Mane Manege’ programme at Shivabagh in Mangaluru at 9.30 am on September 23.

The Congress workers will visit all the houses in the district to create awareness on welfare programmes of the Congress-led state government. The household visits will be held till October 15. The programme is an effort to strengthen democracy as well, he said.

Pradeep Kumar Acharya and Irshad Pasha who have won medals at Commonwealth Powerlifting and Bench Press Championship 2017, held at South Africa,
were felicitated on the occasion.

Pradeep has won one gold and three silver medals at senior category powerlifting while Pasha has won two gold and a silver medal in junior category. The MLA said he will try to get financial assistance from the state government and Mangaluru City Corporation for development.
