Mangalore : The Southern Railway Mazdoor Union, Mangalore Branch organized a demonstration in front of Mangalore Railway Station on Feb 23, Thursday highlighting the problems faced by the patients in Mangalore area due to the deficiency in treatment received from the hospitals in PGT division, especially from MAQ.
Addressing the protestors, Anand, secretary, Southern Railway Mazdoor Union said that Due o the doctors, non-availability of specialist doctors and non availability of modern medical equipments and medicines, patients are now forced to get treatment from private hospitals.
He also said that the referral hospital now nominated is Wenlock Hospital which is not better than Railway Hospital. Hence a referral hospital is only way out to meet the difficulties the patients are now facing. The union has demanded the referral hospital as Fr Mullers, KMC or Unity, since there are 7500 family members of the railway department staffs.
The Reimbursement of medical expenses are also delayed abnormally.
Suresh, division assistant of Pallakad division and Jayachandra, Assistant division secretary of Pallakad division and others participated in the protest.
