Belthangady : A CoD  team has  arrived in the taluk to undertake investigations into the rape and murder case of Sowjanya, a student of SDM College, Ujire. Already, the CoD inspector Gopal has collected the FIR in the case.

It may be recalled here that 17 year old Sowjanya was  found raped and murdered at Pangala near Dharmasthala on October 10. Police have already arrested one Santosh Rao, said to be mentally unstable, in connection with the case, even as there is a strong suspicion that more than one person was involved in this  brutal act.

Numerous protests were also staged demanding justice and a CBI probe into this case. Sri Esha Vittaldas Swamiji of Kemar Sandeepani Ashram, had also demanded a CBI probe.Even the SMSes that are being circulated has raised apprehensions regarding the  case.

Now, all eyes are on the CoD  and its investigation report. On the other hand, an FIR has been registered against Somanath Nayak, President of Nagarika Seva Trust of Guruvayanakere for defaming Dharmasthala by sending SMS. This action was taken on the basis of a complaint lodged by one Sukesh of Guruvayanakere in Belthangady police station.
