Belthangady : SP Abhishek Goyal has requested the temple and shrine managements to give top priority to security aspect in the wake of rising thefts in shrines.
He was addressing a meeting of heads of temples and Basadis from the taluk, which was convened at Sannidhi guest house at Dharmasthala on June 20, Thursday, following the several thefts reported in Basadis recently.
He said though the police department was trying its level best to provide security, the Belthangady police station lacked enough staff and added government has already been requested to recruit more staff so that they can do their duties efficiently.
He also urged the shrine heads to take steps to appoint security guards during night time and also have fitted CCTV cameras in an effort to reduce thefts.
Sadananda Varnekar, DySP, Sudhaker Naik, circle inspector, Yogeesh Kumar, SI, Rajashekhar Ajri, President of Bangadi Basadi, Ratnavarma Jain Nemiraj Ariga, State convener of Karnataka Jain Swayam Seva Sangha,Shashikiran Jain, lawyer, Jayakeerthi Jain, Taluk President of Karnataka State Government Employees Association, and others attended the meeting.
SP Abhishek Goyal earlier visited the Bangadi Basadi which was burgled recently.
