Bangalore : Karnataka assembly K G Bopaiah accepted the resignation of B Sreeramulu from his Assembly membership, which he had submitted last month unhappy over denial of ministerial berth to him.
Sulking over the denial of ministerial berth following his indictment in a Lokayukta report on illegal mining,Sreeramulu, a close associate of mining magnates the Reddy brothers, submitted his resignation to Bopaiah on September Four.
Janardhana Reddy, a former minister, is presently in jail in Andhara Pradesh in connection with an illegal mining case.
Assembly secretary S B Patil told PTI that the resignation of Sreeramulu who has resigned from his assembly membership was accepted today.
The resignation was not accepted for over a month, which had come under flak from opposition Congress and the JDS.
Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda told reporters that Sreeramulu’s resignation has been accepted as efforts to persuade him to continue as MLA went in vain.
