Madikeri: The Karnataka legislature speaker, K.G. Bopaiah, a Kodagu MLA, is hauled up in a criminal case relating to a local lake development. The opposition had attacked him earlier that he was working against Constitutional demands.

A group of four, including Bopaiah, and ZP CEO Krishnappa, are under attack by a criminal complaint filed by ZP member Ms. Saritha Poonacha through her lawyer, the redoubtable political leader A.K.Subbaih, which has reached madikeri criminal court this week, pressing for suitable action.

The court took note of the petition and asked Lokayukta police to register a criminal complaint against the 4 defendents to conduct the enquiry, and to report back by December 19.

The lake development work should be entrusted to Nirmithi Kendra, a letter from KGB had told district panchayat.

Accordingly, ZP took the decision I favour of N. Kendra with an amount of Rs.1.20 crores fixed for completing  the project. Even after paying Rs60 lakhs initially, no work is begun or done, complained Saritha. She Sought a detailed enquiry into the possible omissions and commissions under the project. Speaker Bopaiah is feeling the heat now.
