Hyderabad : After Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah resigned from his post, Congress did not delay to announce the name of Rosaiah’s successor. Assembly speaker Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy has been named as the new CM of the state.
According the party sources, Kiran Reddy would sworn as the new CM on Thursday, Nov 25 after submitting his resignation from the speaker post.
Union Minister for Urban Development S Jaipal Reddy was the other expected name for the next Andhra Pradesh CM but as Jaipal Reddy informed that he would not come from New Delhi and citing his age, Congress named Kiran Reddy.
Hours after Rosaiah resigned, Congress senior leader and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Nov 24 announced, “The Congress president Sonia Gandhi has chosen Mr Reddy as the new Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader.”
50-year-old N Kiran Reddy would be among the youngest Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
Reddy has successfully accomplished his part of job as the speaker of the state assembly since 2009 when Congress returned to power.
Reddy represented Pileru Assembly constituency in Chittoor and he was also a four-time elect to the State Assembly since 1989.
Kiran Reddy maintained continuous contact with the party high command since former CM YSR’s son Jagan Mohan Reddy revolted against the party in the state.
Kiran Reddy’s enthusiastic approach probably helped him to receive the prestigious post as the tumultuous situation of Andhra Pradesh demanded a young active and dynamic leader, who can bring our solution to the unrest of the state
