Bangalore : DK district will have a fast track special court that will take up for hearing cases of crime against women so that there would be speedy justice and speedy disposal of such cases.
State Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra said the courts will come up at ten places including DK, Bangalore Urban, one each in Bangalore Rural, Belgaum, Dakshina Kannada, Gulbarga, Kodagu, Mandya, Mysore and Ramangaram districts.
The decision comes in the wake of the recent gang rape of a medical student of Manipal University, The special courts will have 37 staff and a district judge. He said the government hopes that the cases of crime against women will be reduced with the setting up of the fast track courts.
He said a gazette officer is also planned to be appointed to see that women are not projected in poor light in advertisements and films.
