Mangalore: The Karnataka State Association for Special Educators and Supportive Staff has urged the government to extend facilities to special educators on par with teachers of other schools.
Speaking to reporters, Vasanth Kumar Shetty, Director of Saanidhya Residential School, accused the government of not taking any interest in this regard even when educators in special schools are making yeoman contribution to the society.
Kumar further said the Karnataka Government has not extended an grants to special schools when neighbouring states have been prompt in fulfilling the demands.
He also pointed out that there is a shortage of teachers in special schools though DK has ten special schools having nearly over one thousand students. He also said the grants provided by the government were hardly suffice to these schools.
