Mangaluru : Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra and other officials visited the Talapady check-post on July 30, Friday to ensure strict vigilance in the border in the backdrop of the rising Covid cases in the neighbouring Kerala.
As a number of people commute between Kasargod and Dakshina Kannada every day for education, job purposes and medical and business reasons there needs to be a strict vigilance considering the high Covid positivity rate in Kerala, the DC said.
As of now, those who have received at least one dose of Covid vaccine or those with RT PCR negative reports are allowed.
He said as of now daily 7,000 to 8000 Covid tests are being done in the district and there is a plan to increase this to 10,000.
City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar, DCP Hariram Shanker, AC Madan Mohan and District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr Kishore, Tahsildar Guruprasad and others were present.
