Mangalore: The driver of a tanker carrying highly inflammable spirit sustained injuries when the tanker skidded and rolled into a roadside gorge at Adam Kudru near Tokkottu on July 12. The tanker was proceeding towards Trichur in Kerala from Aurangabad in Maharashtra when the mishap took place.
It is learnt, the accident occurred when the driver lost control over the vehicle and hit an electricity pole before landing in the gorge. Luckily the tanker did not burst into flames even when it had nearly 20,000 litres of spirit.
The injured tanker driver Vijayan is said to be from Ahmedabad. Senior excise and police officials visited the spot. Ullal police have registered a case.
