Kundapur: Excise officials have arrested one Basava Ganiga on the charges of manufacturing spurious liquor in a house at Noojady. The raid following a tip off and the police seized several bottles. Another accused Girish Ganiga however was successful in escaping.

It is learnt, the liquor prepared locally was filled in bottles of reputed foreign liquor brands and sold after duly pasting labels etc.

The raid was led by George Pinto, Deputy Commissioner of Excise, Shubhada C Nayak, Excise Inspector and other officials.
