It is the rarest of rare races from rural parts of India, convened only in Edapadavu GP of Mangalore taluk, which unites a society of people in revelry, is not seen in Udupi Zouk show on St. Marry islands.
 
The race was organised in 2011 for a successful rural athletic meet organised by Bhoothanatheshwara Temple authorities. Don’t give up. It is a part of the 3-day show in February 17 to 19 in 2012, at the hoary historic temple of shastava, where olden forms of rural sports are being revived, with great pains by a managing trustee who is also a businessman, V.V. Shetty who wants temple surrounding converted to haunting places by Community members, who are otherwise attracted elsewhere.
 
He thinks up programmes to draw people to their temple often. His rural sports programmes in 2011, gained a national publicity and were imitated by others, at a time when old known rural games were going into oblivion for the sake of films and boring cricket play.
 
The long forgotten indoor/outdoor rural games, losing  their charm these days, were revived in a high social interest.
 
The modern guys now wonder, ‘Oh’ we had those games a hundred years back and then came out to participate in enthusiasm and pride.
 
A little merriment and a tough proposition, some physical trouble as well yes, but that is what it is a couple’s race in muddy fields. No one falls.
