Mangalore : The people across the city celebrated Ugadi, the Hindu New Year with utmost fervor at Sri Kalikamba temple, Carstreet, Mangalore on April 4, Monday.
A large number of devotees gathered at the temple to celebrate the festival with immense splendor and magnificence. On the occasion, a special pujas were offered to the presiding deity. The temple also served the food to the devotees gathered on the occasion in the form of prasadam at the temple premises.
Ugadi is the time to take head bath, wear new clothes, worship the gods and consume neem leaves along with jaggery to signify necessity to welcome both trying times and occasions to celebrate with a balanced mind.
Sri Kalahasthendra Swamiji delivered the benedictory speech on the occasion and blessed the gathered devotees.
