Mangalore: “Yendurance” an indoor stadium where players are rested for their enduarance in games and sports before they advance to bag prizes, had a new guest of honour from Sri Lanka, Duleep Mendis, a former star and captain of Sri Lankan Cricket Team. He inaugurated the Yenepoya indoor Stadium at Deralakatte where Yenepoya University has large Campus for studies and games, for its students today(Feb.19).
Speaking on the occasion like a soothsayer, Mendis hoped that Sri Lanka and India cricket teams would enter the finals on April 2 at Mumbai to vie for the World Cup (50overs) 2011.
Mendis showed his class in 1982 upto 85 as specialist batsman, when India won the World Cup in 1983 under Kapil Dev Nikhanj pf Delhi, a great all-rounder. Sri Lanka under Ranatunga won the Cup in 1996. Mendis praised the Sports (indoor) Complex built by Yenepoya authorities.
