Mangalore : Sri Ram Sene does not oppose love, but it opposes celebrating of Valentine’s Day and falling as a prey to the business gimmicks, said Sri Ram Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik.
Speaking at the debate held on Celebration of Valentine’s Day, organized by Journalists Study Centre at Mangalore Business School on Feb 12, Saturday, he said that love must not be limited for just one day by observing Valentine’s Day. Love must not only arise between boy and girl, but also have love towards nature, atmosphere, parents, country and others too.
He also said that Valentine’s Day is celebrated after a cheap father’s death, who was considered as the saint later. Russia has banned this system after knowing the fact, then why Indians are following it, he questioned.
Participating as the other resources person at the interaction, K L Ashok of Komu Souharda Vedike, said that lover’s day is observed after the sincere lover was killed for love. Today the chance to discuss on the matter of Valentine’s Day was born since Sri Ram Sene had created the terrific situation during previous year.
He also said that lovers have the rights to celebrate their day and they do not need anyone’s permission to have their right. It is wrong to say that this is business gimmick since; the business minded people will always increase the price during other festivals too. These organizations are snatching right to expression of the women.
Speaking on the pub culture, he said that even he condemn the pub culture which is a western culture, but it must not be restricted to women only but be applied to all the men too.
Mohammed Kunni of Jamaat-e- hind said that the outfits attacking the youths during the lovers day is condemned. When the society has no control, then it will be difficult to survive.
He also said that, the sene itself is responsible to give a wide publicity to the Valentine’s Day by making issues. The country has right to celebrate the day, he added.
Muneer Katipalla, president of DYFI said that if Sri Ram Sene had spoke to the lovers in the way which they are speaking now, then these situations wouldn’t arise.
But if the organizations try to change the youths by blackmailing or attacking, then it is condemned. The present changes by Muthalik and Sri Ram Sene is welcomed.
Muthalik said that, they have printed around 10 lakh pamphlets on valentine day stating the disadvantages and will distribute to the colleges and hostels. He also said that they have given the requisition letter to the cards and gifts centre to avoid selling of gifts for Valentine’s Day. The hotel owners are requested to avoid illegal activities in their hotels too, he added.
We are trying to avoid these celebration and if people do not agree, then nothing can be done, he said.
