Udupi : For the biennial paryaya of Sri Krishnapura Mutt in January 2022 the ‘Akki Muhurtham’, a pre paryaya ritual held on Wednesday.
Sri Vidyasagara Thirtha swamiji, seer of Sri Krishnapura Mutt led the rituals. The senior most among other seers of the Udupi Ashta mutts, Sri Vidyasagara Thirtha will ascend the Paryaya Peeta for the fourth time on January 18, 2022.
Akki Muhurtham marks the collection and storage of rice from devotees. The paryaya mutt uses the rice to mass feed devotees during its Paryaya administration tenure of two years. The mutt makes necessary arrangements for the Paryaya with this important ritual to ensure that feeding devotees at Sri Krishna Mutt is a hassle free exercise with the Lord’s blessings. This is the second of the four pre-paryaya muhurtha rituals that is carried out.
Sri Vidyasagara Thirtha Swamiji averred that cooperation from other seven mutts is equally important for the successful conduct of the Paryaya. The swamiji assured that some of the schemes that his predecessors introduced will be continued during his term as head of the Paryaya Peeta. The swamiji had performed the ‘bale’ muhurtha on November 30 and will perform ‘kattige’ and ‘batta muhurthas’ in the coming 10 months.
