Hassan: The members of Special Resource Teachers’ Association staged a protest near the deputy commissioner’s office, here on Tuesday, demanding that the services of special education teachers appointed on contract basis at the Block Education Offices and Block Resource Centre (BRC) offices be regularised.
According to the protesters, a circular issued by Sarva Shikshana Abhiyan’s office to the district office and BRC offices on December 21, states that four regular teachers should be temporarily shifted to the BRC offices to look after the physically challenged students as the term of these special resource teachers will come to an end in December.
The competent authority has issued order to relieve the outsourced teachers from service after the completion of their term. Around 408 special teachers in the state, including 43 teachers in the district, who are serving in the field of special education since 18 years would be affected.
These teachers were outsourced in July 2016, with a clause to relieve them in December, the protesters claimed. They demanded that the teachers be allowed to continue in service.
