Mangaluru : Even as 8.49 lakh students are appearing for the first language exam of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination on Wednesday, 35 students of Swami Vivekananda School, Nagawara, were unable to do so. The reason is not attendance shortage, but because they have not got hall tickets.
The parents of the 35 children staged a protest against the school. The Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) stated that the school did not have the necessary permissions to function and had not even approached the board to register the candidates.
According to a department official, the head of the school met with the authorities concerned about getting the hall tickets on Wednesday morning “after the examination had already commenced.” Sources said that the school principal is absconding.
