Bangalore : Udupi district has topped the state in the results of the 2011-2012 SSLC examinations, which were out on May 17, Wednesday afternoon. Dakshina Kannada has slipped to the seventh position.
Udupi which had stood sixth last year has gained the top honour this time, followed by Sirsi, Hassan, Tumkur, Chikkodi, Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada . As usual Bidar stood last in the list.
Announcing the results this morning, State Education Minister Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri said the pass percentage this time was 76.13 per cent, an increase by 2.23 per cent compared to last year when the pass percentage was 73.90.
As usual girls gained an upper hand than boys. If the pass percentage of girls is 81.16, that of boys was 71.73. A total of 47 schools registered zero per cent results. Compared to last year there has been an increase by 9.43 per cent in pass percentage of girls and 3 per cent in case of rural students.
A female student who scored 623 out of the total 625 marks stood first in the state.
