Mangalore : St Aloysius College and St Agnes College jointly organized a National Level Seminar – cum – Workshop on ‘Autonomy: Concept, Issues and Challenges at Eric Mathias Hall of St Aloysius College on October 23, Saturday.
Speaking after inaugurating the seminar, Dr KN Shetty, member, National president ISTE said that the higher education in the country is increase and the number of Universities is less.
He also said that, there are only 400 to 500 universities in the country, so the management will be difficult. So the Universities must give permission to Autonomous College and expect quality education from them.
By the year 2015, there must be 1500 university, in order to decrease the enrollment. The Autonomous College must take this as a challenge and must give quality based education compared to affiliated colleges, he said.
He also informed that, autonomous must give creative, transperancy and innovative education system.
Padmashree Dr M Anandakrishnan, chairman, Science City, Chennai delivered the key note address on the occasion.
Dr M Olivia AC, Joint secretary, Mnagaing Committee, St Agnes College was the guest of honour. Rev Fr Joseph Rodrigues, Rector, St Aloysius College presided over the occasion.
Dr Sr Marie Prem D’Souza AC, principal of St Agnes College and Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ, principal, St Aloysius College were present on the occasion.
