Mangalore: A one-year long celebrations planned for 25 years completion(Silver Jubilee) of Co-education begun in 1986 at the St. Aloysius College, began with an event on September 23, Friday, called Glory of Womanhood, when Fr.Joseph Rodrigues, rector, presided over inaugural programme and Giselle Mehta, author of Blossom showers, was the guest of honour. Dr. Olinda Pereira, director of Mangalore Vishwas Trust was chief guest.
She said that men and women were equal and should not dominate over each other. The presence of so many women on a college Campus, earlier meant only for men, was a significant event, she added. Fr. Joseph Rodrigues felt educating both sexes under a single roof brought the home atmosphere to the century-old College. Giselle attributed her success in life to the education she had imbibed.
Several scholars and administrators were present. Students who designed the Logo for the event were honoured on the occasion. There was a cultural programme from students.
