Mangalore : Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh ® and St Vincent Ferrer Church Valencia Unit in association with Karnataka Christian Education Society, Balmatta will organize a ‘Christa Jayanathi Gaanalahari 2012’, an English Carol Singing Competition at St Vincent Ferrer Church grounds, Valencia on November 30 at 5.30 pm.

Speaking at the press meet held at Press club on Nov 27, Tuesday, Anil Lobo, president of Catholic Sabha, Valencia said that the carol singing competition will be held for first time in English, Kannada and Konkani for the contestants from Mangalore, Udupi and Kasargod will be held on November 30, Dec 1 and Dec 2 at church grounds.

He also said that around 60 teams have registered their names for the competition. The first winning team will be given the cash prize of Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 for second and third prize respectively along with memento.  The organization will also give Rs 4000 cash prize for three consolation prize winners.

Bishop of Mangalore, Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza will preside over the function.  M N Rajendra Kumar, chairman, SCDCC Bank and Manohar Prasad, chief of News Bureau, Udayavani will be the chief guests for the English Carol Singing Competition on Nov 30.

Bishop of Belthangady Rev Lawrence Mukkuzhy, will preside over the Kannada Carol Singing Competition on Dec 1.  DC Chinnappa Gowda, Fourwinds Mass Communication Services Elias Fernandes and KPCC secretary Ivan D’Souza will be the chief guests.

Former Bishop CSI, Karnataka Southern Diocese, will preside over the Konkani Carol Singing Competition on Dec 2. J R Lobo, ex municuipal commissioner, Louis J Pinto, ex president, Mandd Sobhann and Nigel Pereira, president, Catholic Sabha will be the chief guests.

Rev Bonaventure Nazreth, Dr Honey Cabral and Flavia Sequera were present.
