Mangalore: St. Vincent Ferrer Convent School in Valencia near Kankanady in city celebrated children’s Christmas for its tiny tots of Play School, Nursery Lower K G and Upper K G classes, where about 200 children dressed in Red and Black uniforms like so many Santa Clauses on Friday Dec.20.
The school administration distributed cakes, sweets, and kushwar were to the little children who looked like Child Jesus.
The teachers made the children take part in some drama scenes on the stage and sing carol songs while guiding them in singing and reciting songs like kindly light and Gentle night, Christmas night and so on. Parents of the children attended the Christmas program to inspire their kids on stage. There was music, dance and distribution of gifts all round in the morning program. The principal and the nursery school staff members were busy taking care of all children and the elders on this happy and marry Christmas day.
The program began with a prayer song ‘Grate light of the world’. Headmistress Sister Winnie presided. Reverend Bonaventure Nazareth was the chief guest of the morning. A parent from each of the pre-primary class’s members was the main guest during the celebration. Chief Guest Eugene D’Cunha in his speech recalled the birth of Jesus in a cowshed to redeem the sinners of the world and to uplift the humble people in his native place. The religion of Christ had now pervaded the world over, he added.
The other Chief Guest Rev. Bonaventure Nazareth stated on the occasion that lord Jesus came in to this world to establish peace and dignity for those who were down trodden and humble. The Kingdom of god is verily within us, Jesus had said. The Infant Jesus is still performing many miracles among people of various communities and religions in India, he stated.
A drama on the Birth of Jesus was in acted on the occasion by LKG/UKG kids, scripted and directed by one of the staff members Ms. Zeena Machado.
Nursery Head mistress Sister Winnie, Nancy D’Soza, UKG teachers Patricia, and Janet, LKG teacher Zeena Machado, Play School teacher Edlene among others participated in the show.
