Mangalore : The Karnataka Dalitha Sangharsha Samithi is urging the district administration for the construction of Ambedkar Bhavan from several years and the then DC Subodha Yadav had reserved 1.61 acre of land in the Derebail ward. But the construction work of this Bhavan did not start, said, Devdas, state organizing convener of KDSS.
Speaking at the press meet held at Hotel Woodlands on Nov 16, Friday, he said that now some of the anti Ambedkar followers are creating problems for the construction of Bhavana and forcing the district administration to shift the reserved land.
He warned the district administration and Mangalore City Corporation not to change the place since it is an insult to Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar.
In this regard, various dalit organisations had submitted a memorandum to the District Administration to complete the foundation stone laying ceremony and start the construction process.
At present the District administration has laid the foundation for Bhavana near Kudmul Ranga Rao Memorial, Opp PVS Bus Stop, Kodialbail and the committee not happy with the place and opposed it.
Committee members like Ramesh Kotian, P Keshava, Jagadish Pandeshwar, S P Anand, Chandra Kumar, Krishnananda D and Lingappa Nanthoor were present.
