Bengaluru : Karnataka Government is planning to amend the Inams Abolition Act in order to allow farmers to apply for claim of occupancy rights. Speaking to the media, Revenue Minister R Ashoka said, “More than 70,000 acres of land falls under the inam land category in the State. Many farmers have not filed applications seeking occupancy rights under the Inams Abolition Act. Hence, to provide them an opportunity, the government has decided to amend the Inams Abolition Act. The issue will be discussed in the State Cabinet,” he said, adding that a committee headed by PS Vastrad had suggested the same.
