Mangaluru: The state government has sanctioned Rs.6.50 crore for the construction of Badminton and kabbaddi indoor stadiums of international level, here at Urwa in Mangaluru on 20th January.
Speaking to the media, Mangaluru MLA JR Lobo said that the Badminton and Kabbaddi association had approached him with a proposal of constructing the stadiums in Mangaluru. The government has approved an area of 1.13 acre at Urwa for the indoor stadiums and sanctioned 6.5 crore for its construction. He also thanked Minister for sports Pramod Madhwaraj and additional chief secretary of the sports department Rajaneesh Goyal for taking up the initiative for this project.

The indoor badminton and kabaddi stadium is said to consist of three floors with four synthetic courts each for kabaddi and badminton. The stadium will have a seating capacity of 1000. It will also have a gym, cafeteria, rest room, banquet hall, pantry, rest rooms, lounge and a dining hall.
Kabbaddi association president Sadananda Shetty, Mangala Badminton Club president Venkatesh, Deepak, Santhosh Shetty and others were present at the event.
