Mangalore : The Karnataka State Government Employees Association staged a protest urging various demands, in front of DC Office on Feb 9, Wednesday.
H Sanjeeva, president, put forth the various demands of the association such as VI Pay Commission for the State government employees, to provide incentives and house rent allowance equivalent to the central government employees, to deliver monthly salary to the Taluk Panchayat and Zilla Panchayat employees before fifth of every month, to constitute C and R Rules among others. “Karnataka is the only state in the nation which has not implemented VI Pay Commission to the State Government employees. When the Central Government implemented the recommendations of the VI Pay Commission on April 1, 2006, the Government of Karnataka implemented the recommendations of the V pay Commission on the same day.
Karnataka and Kerala have been the only two governments which did not introduce VI Pay Commission. However, the Kerala government has given its nod to implement VI Pay Commission with affect from April 1, 2011, he informed.
Mangalore Bar Association President S P Chengappa, said that today state government has created such a situation that, government workers come in to streets to stage protest regarding various demands.
He also said that, the workers are not getting the proper wages and the state government is not ready to give any compensation for the workers family, if they dead due to the some disasters during their duty.
The Lokayukta only conducts raids on the officials who are working as the second division. The officials who work in the higher post and demand big amount of bribe from the poor are left free, he informed.
The Chief Minister, even after having so many cases against him, has still not resigned. He spends the public money on temples, seer’s, black magic and other practices, but does not pay proper wage to the government workers, he added.
P Abbusamadh, secretary of state organization, S Niranjan Moorthy, treasurer, Prakash Nayak, general secretary, Ronald Fernandes, member of State Parishath, vice president like George Pinto, Pandurang Attavar, G Parameshwar Poojary, Chandrashekar Bolar and others were present.
