Mangalore : Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) in association with Jaya Karnataka jointly organized a state-level boys and girls Kabaddi Championship – 2012 at Nehru Maidan on February 5.
Speaking on the occasion, N M Adyanthaya, state president of INTUC said that India always encouraged cricket and been neglecting other sports including our national game, hence this thinking in people must change and work to give equal importance to other sports also.
He also said that cricket and tennis are known as rich peoples game and the game like Kabbadi has a Indian origin and is affordable to all and a game that displays youth power.
A Sadananda Shetty and MLA U T Khader also spoke on the occasion.
Dr K N Vijayaprakash, CEO of Zilla panchayat said that we must encourage rural sports and players and Government must give equal importance to other sports too.
State INTUC Secretary Sadashiva Shetty welcomed the gathering. Around 54 teams participated in the Kabbadi Championship.
