Mangalore : St Aloysius Pre University College, Mangalore in association with Mangalore Taluk Kannada Sahithya Parishat and Kannada and Cultural Department, Mangalore will organize ‘Nammadu’, a state level literature and Cultural Convention at Loyala Hall of St Aloysius College on January 22, Saturday at 9 am.
Speaking at the press meet held at Pathmudi Soudha on Jan 19, Wednesday, Dr Ganesh Amin Sankamar, said that the programme has been organized to conduct state level literature and cultural competition for the High School students. The organization gives importance to the States culture through various programmes, folk dance, Kannada talks and poem writing competition including the regional language Sanskrit.
The programme will be conducted to revive the tradition and culture in the present situation where students are given more importance to globalization, technology and modernization. The students are given priority to film dances; hence this will be an event to encourage folk dances.
The first three winning team will be awarded with the cash prize of Rs 5000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 respectively and memento. Over 30 teams from various educational institutions have registered their names and around 50 teams are expected to participate, he added.
Prof John D’Silva, Sarvottham Anchan, Dr Kishore Kumar Rai Sheni and Pradeep M were present at the press meet.
