Mangalore: Qamar-Ul Islam, minister from Gulbarga who was at the Mangalore International Airport on Sunday stated that 2 acres of land had been taken over near Kenjaru Airport area, to build a Hajj House (HAJ-GARH) at a cost of Rs.3.50 Lakhs. He paid tributes to the former Mayer, Haji Abdul Khader, who passed away on Saturday night in city.
The Hajj House which will be completed in 2015 can accommodate 1,000 pilgrims at a time in a year and provide information to the pilgrims about the system of Hujj-yatra. The pilgrims will come from the coastal districts of DK, Udupi and Kodagu, and also Hassan and Chikkamagalore.
He told reporters at MIA information centers in 8 places are identified and some more will be taken up later for the minority communities to tell about the Govt. schemes that are available to them on various matters. The minorities include Christians, Buddhists and Janis, besides Muslims, he added.
The minister referred to the State Micro-loan scheme and said the Govt. would raise its part of subsidy from 25% to 50% up to an amount of Rs. 1 Lakh to enable minorities to buy a plot or land to construct houses for themselves.
The Shaadi Bhagya (marriage of poor girls) scheme as now been extended to girls of 3 other communities a part from Muslims as referred to by him.
