Mangalore : A good trains which had come to load fertilizers at Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers at Panambur landed on the NH 66 on July 10, Wednesday much to the surprise of people of the locality.

It is said the goods train had halted at the MCF yard for loading of fertilizers. However due to the cutting off of a coupling between the engine and compartments, the train took to the reverse, crossed the track and crashed the g ate and landed on the road.

The train crew who were nearby rushed immediately and applied brakes to ensure no damage was caused.

Though it is the usual practice for the security personnel to close the gate whenever the train arrived, on July 10, the gate was not closed, say sources.
