Mangalore: Fr. Prashanth Madtha SJ, former principal of St. Aloysius College and writer, released Stephen Quadros Permude’s Konkani translation of 190 vachanas atr a special programme held at Sandesha on May 14, Saturday.
The book was published by Konkani Prachar Sanchalan. Roy Castelino presided over the programme.
While Eric Ozerio delivered the welcome address, Vitori Karkal proposed the vote of thanks.
Vachanas which is one of the richest books of Kannada literature, popular during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries created by Veera Shaiva saints such as Basavanna, Allama Prabhu, Akka Mahadevi, Basaveshwara, and Siddaramaiah in a bid to reconstruct the society.
