Mangalore : The Karnataka Janabhivridhi Vedike has launched campaign to sensitize the people of Mangalore on the likely water scarcity in the city in the next few months if water supplied for industrial purposes was not checked. The first street play in this regard was staged by Tirikita team in front of the MCC office on November 2, Friday.
The play tried to enlighten the masses on the grim scenario and highlighted how of the 160 mld of water from Netravathi, 110 mld is supplied to the city while 40 mld gets wasted due to leakages.
Vidya Dinker, Co-ordinator of the Vedike said the MCC need to initiate concrete action to see that the city did not face water shortage. Dr Annayya Kulal of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and others were present on the occasion.
Street plays as part of the campaign will also be staged at Panambur beach, in front of DC office. The campaign will conclude at Kadri Park on November 4, Sunday.
