Mangalore: The Mangalore City Corporation had given 15 days time to provide alternative provision for the street vendors in the council meeting held on June 30 and it was welcomed by the street vendors committee, but still the MCC has ordered the civic tiger t continue the operation, said Sunil Kumar Bajal, convener of Action Committee.
Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on July 6, Wednesday, he said that BJP is the party acting against the poor, minorities, Dalits and street vendors.
He also said that, the team comprising of mg Hegde, secretary of JDS, Yadav Shetty, Shashiraj Shetty under the leadership of former MLA Vijayakumar Shetty went to Bangalore and met Governor Bharadwaj and submitted the memorandum.
Vasanth Achary, said that on July7, Thursday at 3 pm, the action committee from the State bank and Lady Goshen area will form the human chain at State Bank with the slogan to stop civic tiger operation and save the street vendors. The protest will be held in front of DC Office after the formation of human chain. Later the members will stage protest in front of District in Charge minister Krishna J Palemar’s house.
He also said that, from July 13, they will organize an indefinite hunger strike will be held.
Jayanthi Shetty of CPIM, former Mayor Ashraf and Shashiraj Shetty were present.
