Mangalore, July 29: The Street vendors Association in association with CPI(M) stages a rally protest in front of MCC on July 29, Friday, against the Mangalore City Corporations ‘Civic tiger operation’.
The street vendors commence the rally from DC Office to MCC.
Addressing the protestors, CPI(M) secretary Sunil Kumar Bajal said that the street vendors are fighting for justice to lead their life from past 3 months. But they have been given just assurance by the government and Mangalore City Corporation.
After meeting the MCC Commissioner Dr K N Vijayaprakash and Mayor, the street vendors had got little relief since they had assured to provide an alternative place for the street vendors to sell their goods. But this has been remained as just the promise. The MCC is failing to announce its alternative place to be provided for the vendors from past three weeks.
He also said that, the large number of street vendors is Muslims; they will have to hold the fast on the occasion of Ramzan. They have to also work for their livelihood, hence he urged the Commissioner to provide them the alternative places and not hold civic tiger operation on them till they provide the place.
