Mangaluru : Street vendors under the banner of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) staged a protest on Tuesday Nov 18, against the Mangaluru City Corporation’s lack of implementation of the Street Vendors Rehabilitation Act.
The protestors demanded the corporation identify “food plazas” in the city where street vendors can hawk without harassment from police and officials.
The protestors further demanded the distribution of identity cards for street vendors, as well as, maintenance of hygiene and footpaths around the State Bank bus stand where numerous street vendors hawk.
