Mangalore : Karnataka State Women’s Development Corporation, Bangalore and Women’s and Child Welfare department, Mangalore jointly organized Exhibition and Sale Mela of handicraft and eatable manufactured by Stri Shakti groups, held at Mahila Sabha, Light House Hill Road, Mangalore on November 2, Tuesday.
District In charge Minister Krishna J Palemar inaugurated the event. Speaking on the occasion he said that at present women have tried to work hard and earn for their livelihood. Now they are capable to work independently with the help of self help groups like Stri Shakti.
Speaking at the press meet before the inauguration, Sarojini Bharadhwaj, honourary president, Karnataka State Womens Development Corporation, Bangalore said that the Corporation works to provide economical and societal development schemes for the house wives, who are interested in earning their livelihood with their own effort.
The Corporation also guides the women’s to select the manufacturing activities and gives technical suggestion to encourage them.
It also gives loans and held to the women’s to start the business. The women of special class like widows of Schedule Caste and handicaps will be given the scheme cost of 30 percent, which will be Rs 10,000 and other women will be given 20 percent that is Rs 7,500 by the corporation, she said that.
She also said that, they will establish one of the centres in Mangalore in Future for the benefits of local women.
The exhibition displayed pickles, gold plated ornaments, ayurvedic medicines, bags and other things.
Mayor Rajani Duganna, Sumathi Pangala, president of Mahila Sabha and Prafulla D Rao were present on the occasion.
