Mangalore : Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer AB Ibrahim said that in order to prevent proxy voting for the upcoming elections, the district has taken measures to vigil in areas adjoining the Kerala borders.

Speaking at a meeting convened for the Assistant Election officers and Tahsildars of all assembly constituency limits at DC Office on April 13, Sunday, DC said that the concerned officials have been directed to thoroughly check all the routes and vehicles leading to the district from Kerala.

DC also said that the district will set up more check posts and the polling officers of polling booths in border areas have issued with special instructions in connection to the election.

Speaking on the check posts, he said that check posts will be set up at Kanyana-Manjeshwar, Peruvai-Uppala, Bakrabailu-Manjeshwar, Saradka-Kasargod road, Karopady Road, Sullipadavu, Kalladka-Kanhangad Road, Eshwaramangala Road, Narkodu Panattadi and other places.
