Udupi :  A second year polytechnic student of Udupi has reportedly ended his life by hanging himself at his house at Sagri. It is said he could not appear for third semester classes as he had failed in five subjects.

The deceased has been identified as Santosh Kumar (20), son of Sundar and Pratibha Jatanna. Students staged protest outside the KMC Hospital where his body was taken and also  near Tiger Circle in Manipal and outside DC office.

Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj who met them assured thorough probe into the case and also promised to hold talks with the education minister regarding the carry over system.

Polytechnic students had staged a hunger strike on Friday seeking to withdraw the decision to bring about changes in carry over system.
