Mangalore : Akash Kadur(17), a student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Chikmagalur, met a tragic end when he drowned in the sea at Panambur beach while enjoying a swim with friends and classmates on April 7, Sunday.
Akash along with 34 other classmates had earlier arrived in Mangalore for the AEEE exams and the classmates had decided to spend the evening in the beach.
However, Akash was caught in a huge tidal wave and washed away. A drowning Akash though was rescued by the Beach Life Guards at Panambur beach, he breathed his last while being taken to the hospital.
Yatish Baikampady, CEO of Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project, said this was the first incident in the past four years when the Beach Life Guards could not save a person. He also did not forget to add that the Beach Life Guards had save a number of precious lives since the past four years.
