Mangalore : The Ninth Students Literary Conference organized by Mangalore University PG Alumni Association was inaugurated at the University College in Mangalore on March 9, Saturday.
Inaugurating the programme, noted writer and winner of Kendra Sahitya Academy Award Boluvar Mohammad Kunhi, regretted the fact that casteism has entered even the cultural arena. Children are exposed to biased behaviour first by parents, he said adding this would have a long-lasting negative impact on them. He also referred to the attending of educational institutions by Muslim female students by wearing burkha, he said the students should not be looked down as they are fighting odds to attend the schools.
Dr HR Lakshminarayana Bhatta, Principal of University College, Prof.K Chinnappa Gowda, Lecturer and several students actively took part in the conference.
